Why reviews matter so much

Reviews do two jobs. They’re part of how Google decides which businesses to show in local results, and they’re often what tips a customer toward you instead of the business next door. Recent, detailed reviews, with thoughtful replies, build trust fast.

The rules we follow

Reviews are an area where shortcuts backfire. Google’s policies and consumer protection laws are clear:

  • Ask every customer, not just the happy ones.
  • Never offer money, discounts or gifts in exchange for a review.
  • Never write reviews yourself or pay someone else to.
  • Don’t ask employees, friends or family to review the business.

Following the rules isn’t just safer. It also produces natural, believable reviews that customers trust.

Make asking a habit

The businesses with the most reviews aren’t lucky. They ask every time. We give you the link, the QR codes and the words to use, and on Beam and Lazer we send the requests for you, so asking happens automatically.

Questions

Reviews: common questions

Can I offer a discount in exchange for a review?

No. Google's rules don't allow incentives for reviews, and in the US the FTC also has rules against buying or rewarding reviews. We help you ask in a way that's simple and allowed.

Can I ask only my happy customers?

No. Asking only the customers you expect to be happy, sometimes called review gating, breaks Google's rules. We set up a process that asks every customer the same way.

How should I reply to a bad review?

Calmly, quickly and briefly. Thank them, acknowledge the problem without arguing and offer to sort it out offline. Future customers read your reply as much as the review.

Will you write reviews for me?

Never. Fake reviews break Google's rules and, in many places, the law. They can get your profile penalized. Every review must come from a real customer.
