Contractors and trades

SEO and Google Ads for contractors and trades

When a pipe bursts or the heat stops working, people call one of the first businesses they see on Google. We get you onto the map, onto Local Services Ads where you qualify, and in front of people searching for the jobs you want most.

What your customers search for

We make sure you show up for searches like these on Google Search, Google Maps and AI assistants.

  • plumber near me
  • emergency electrician
  • roof repair [your city]
  • AC repair near me
  • water heater installation
  • 24 hour locksmith

Urgent jobs go to whoever shows up first

People with a leak, a power cut or a broken furnace don’t compare ten websites. They call one of the first businesses they see: usually the top of the map results, a Local Services Ad or a search ad. Showing up there, with your phone number, opening hours and strong reviews, matters more than anything else.

Most trades are service-area businesses

If you visit customers rather than having them come to you, Google lets you hide your address and list the areas you serve instead. Setting this up correctly matters. Fake addresses and virtual offices are among the most common reasons trade businesses get their profiles suspended, and getting reinstated can take weeks.

A page for every job you want more of

“Water heater installation”, “drain cleaning”, “panel upgrades” and “roof inspections” are different searches. A separate page for each main service, explaining what’s included, which areas you cover and what to expect, gives each one its own chance to rank, and gives Google Ads a better page to send people to.

What we do

What we take care of for contractors and trades

Your Google Business Profile

  • The right category, such as Plumber, Electrician, HVAC contractor or Roofing contractor
  • Your real service areas listed, with your address hidden if customers don't visit you
  • Every service you offer, with short descriptions
  • Accurate hours, including emergency hours if you really answer the phone
  • Before-and-after photos of real jobs, your van and your team
  • Your business name exactly as it's registered, with no added keywords

Reviews that win the click

  • A text with your review link sent right after every finished job
  • Encourage customers to describe the job in their own words, which helps people searching for that service
  • Reply to every review, including the occasional unhappy one, calmly and quickly
  • Never ask friends or family to post reviews; Google removes them and can penalize your profile

Google Ads, set up and managed

  • Local Services Ads, where you pay per lead and can earn a Google trust badge, if your trade and area qualify
  • Search ads focused on your most profitable jobs and emergency searches
  • Call ads and call tracking, because most trade customers phone instead of filling in forms
  • Negative keywords to block job seekers, DIY searches and services you don't offer

  • Keywords added to the business name, like 'Best Plumber Springfield', which can get a profile suspended
  • A virtual office or mailbox address, another common cause of suspensions
  • One website page listing every service, instead of a page for each main job
  • Paying for ads but missing the calls, or not tracking which ads bring jobs

Questions

Contractors and trades: common questions

Can I show up in towns where I don't have an office?

On Google Maps, distance matters a lot, so you'll mostly appear close to your base. Setting your real service areas, earning reviews from customers in those towns and having genuinely useful pages about the work you do there helps you reach further. We never use fake addresses, because they lead to suspensions.

Are Local Services Ads worth it?

For many trades, yes. You pay for leads instead of clicks, and the ads can appear above regular ads with a Google trust badge. Availability depends on your trade and area, and there's a screening process. We check if you qualify and handle the setup.

Why was my Google profile suspended?

Common reasons in the trades are keywords in the business name, an address that doesn't qualify, or duplicate profiles. We find the cause, fix it and help you request reinstatement.
