Why consistent details matter
When your business name, address and phone number (often shortened to NAP) appear the same way across the web, search engines can be confident they’re correct. When they don’t match, with an old address in one place and a different phone number in another, it creates doubt. Customers can even end up calling a number that no longer works.
The platforms we start with
- Google Business Profile: the most important listing for most local businesses.
- Bing Places: feeds Bing search, Bing Maps and the products built on Bing.
- Apple Business Connect: controls how you appear in Apple Maps and Siri.
- Yelp and Foursquare: widely used review and location platforms whose data other apps also use.
- Facebook and industry directories: where your customers already look.
Listings are a foundation
Listings won’t make you number one on their own. They’re the foundation that helps everything else work: your Business Profile, your website and your visibility in AI answers. Build them once, correctly, and keep them that way.
